The directors of the Snapdragon Book Foundation are excited to announce Rock Island Academy as the school library for the 2024 Next Up fundraiser, a month-long campaign to support their mission to enhance literacy among its diverse student population. Rock Island Academy, part of the Rock Island-Milan School District, serves nearly 500 K-6 students, 26% of whom are English Language Learners (ELLs) speaking 35 different languages. The Building Literacy Opportunities for English Language Learners project aims to create a culturally and linguistically diverse library by purchasing 117 books in languages like Spanish, Swahili, Karen, Dari, and Kirundi. These books will empower students to connect with their cultural heritage, foster a love of reading, and succeed academically.

We are seeking to raise $1,500 to fully fund this project and provide Rock Island Academy with the essential resources it needs.
