The Snapdragon Book Foundation is pleased to announce that CE King Middle School in Sheldon ISD, on the Northeast side of Houston will receive the $2,145 raised in our Hurricane Harvey disaster relief fundraiser.
Linda Yantis, the school librarian, states, “we lost a lot of books at King Middle School. The library is a shell-no shelves, no circulation desk, no computers, tables,…its pretty sad. We lost probably a third of our books at the time of the flood, and probably that number will climb when we start unpacking the boxes. If they are even slightly moldy, they won’t be used.”
The school plans on expanding their Spanish Literature section as they serve a large Hispanic population. They will add Pura Belpre Award winning books in addition to purchasing James Reynolds’ and other Coretta Scott King Author award winners’ books in order to showcase a different author each month.
Thanks for your support in helping this library in need.
